Productivity Tips

Book Reviews

Love It!, Bethany: I work two jobs and don't have much time to do anything else! I like the short productivity tips in the back, it's a great way to learn something quick. I like their approach to color coding activities and interruptions. In the service industry we are always having to respond to customers complaints and praises. This makes it fast to identify the "reds" from the "greens". One of the best book purchases I have ever made!

Accessible and Relevant, KAZ: This is a GREAT tool for Time and Productivity essentials! You will find so many wonderful tips and a new way of looking at time by coloring your choices! Buy it for all of your friends!

Awesome, Denny: Makes time management very simple and easy. I highly suggest everyone looking to reduce stress and be more effective take a look at what this father/som team have written. Great Stuff.

Quick and Practical, Brian K: Quick read, it's practical stuff that works. I own my own business, have a family and kids that demand time so I'm always on the go. I really liked the skill of "flexicute" and realizing that I spend most of my day multi-tasking. My Blackberry seems to run my life, I'm always connected and doing several things at once. As hard as it is, I'm working on disconnecting at times to regain my focus. I've found that when I do this my stress level goes down.

Attack Your Day!, Tom Mc: This book pulled me back to reality and helped me to be more productive. I have used a Day Timer for years and still do but "Attack Your Day" helped me see my poor scheduling habits that kept me drowning in details, busy work, and interruptions. The book shows practical ways to organize to your goals and personality. It speaks to the whole person who wants to succeed in work and family. It also helped me to include my smart phone as part of the organizing process. In the end, taking control of your events and activities is still your responsibility but "Attack Your Day!" gives you the help you need. Well worth the investment. I've recommended it to many friends.

Time Is On My Side, Jon Matonis: I have followed Mark's and Trapper's writings for a few years now and it has allowed me to refine my day with precision. Also, I don't send any more time-wasting emails. Sometimes it's the simple things that we do that make the biggest difference in our life. I learned several things in this book but the one thing that stuck was to prioritize all activities I do with color. It's made me more productive at work and it's made me realize that I spent a great deal of time on GRAY activities.

Useful, Practical Time Managing Ideas, Durango: Usually when I read books it takes awhile to find ideas I can implement right away that actually make an immediate impact. Mark, you challenge the reader in your book to try ideas right away. Well, I did! I've accomplished more in the past few days than I usually do in a week just by your simple yet powerful exercise on choosing!

Flexecute!, EA Attack Your Day offers practical advice in a very readable form. This book helps the reader to make application of the principles for life management AND the advice is straightforward and easy to follow. In today's business world, we need to be informed and flexible, able to "flexicute" and "turn on a dime."

"Like many people I do often place too many items upon my plate, especially at home. I am better at designating activities at work as a supervisor which is good, but in my home life I often take on too much."
- Hector J

"I am really glad that I viewed the Skills of Choosing video. "Splitting the planning time is the most efficient method for me as an independent contractor, mother and grandmother as demands on my time inevitably change and/or come up over night that I often have to integrate into my daily plan." - Karen D

"I love the fact that I was able to type my response onto this document. It's more convenient when I am on the road to look at this document and update it as needed from any location. Furthermore, by having this option, I was able to save on paper and ink. Yes, I am doing my part in staying GREEN." - Tony W

"I have learned that I work under pressure very well. Because this is my long awaited goal in life, I decided long ago that when I got to this point I would not create pressure situations if I can help it. Just being at this point is anxiety enough." - Mary W

- Syreeta J

"Upon viewing this presentation I would have to say I spend an inordinate amount of time in the "yellow". I cant imagine that it instills as much confidence in my abilities as I would like. I'm going to make it a point to no longer fall prey to other peoples "artificial urgencies". By making my time a commodity, my value as a team member should also rise." - Art S

"I really enjoyed the choosing video as well. I found out that I allow yellow items to interrupt some of my daily routines. I try to always help a coworker on a problem, and this puts me behind in paperwork. I am going to start saying no." - Debra W

"The video was motivational by itself but I found that some of these concepts might not apply to my work environment since in the military we cannot really prioritize projects by our own concepts. I am looking forward to the following videos." - Oscar B

"Good introductory video; it begins by showing those overwhelmed by everyday activities that there is an alternative to achieve success. In the past, I'd experienced "shutdown" and it's an emotional and physiological occurrence."- Stan H
